Railway over bridge completed in Tiruppur city after 11 years of delay

A senior official of the state highway department said, “We do not blame anyone for the delay. The project proposal was submitted to the state highway department in the 2000s. A feasibility report was submitted in 2006 and a Government Order (G.O. 272) was passed in 2007.

However, the project was delayed due to technical problems. In 2012, the project received government approval and a fund of Rs 48.26 million was allocated in two installments to two contractors.

However, the project was delayed by the acquisition of land as some of the owners filed civil suits. The landing site at Golden Nagar (Vavipalayam) was filled with several meters of solid rock, making drilling difficult. Subsequently, after several hurdles, the bridge project was completed in October 2023.
