Rain wreaks havoc in Mussoorie, National Highway near Kamptee sinks at two places
Mussoorie (IANS). The rains have wreaked havoc in the state. Whether mountains or plains, everywhere only the dreaded sight of rain is visible. A similar scene was seen at Campty in Mussoorie on Tuesday. Where after the rain, a large part of the National Highway got washed away from two places.
About 30 meters near Kempty Petrol Pump and 20 meters near Santura Devi Temple on Kempty Road caved in. Tuni-Chakrata, Mussoorie-Bataghat-Maletha National Highway No-707A collapsed at two places near Kempty. The road has become narrow due to the sinking of the highway. There are also cracks at many places.
People have demanded to get the NH repaired soon. According to information, about 30 meters near Kamptee Petrol Pump and 20 meters near Santura Devi Temple on Kempty Road caved in.
Rajendra Singh Panwar, former area panchayat member of Siya village of Kempty, said that most of the culverts built on NH are closed, due to which rain water is flowing on the road. Thick cracks have developed at many places on the NH. If it rains, there may be further damage to the NH, due to which Yamunotri Dham yatra may be affected via Mussoorie, Kamptee route.
AE Anil Kumar Bisht of NH-707A said that the highway was damaged at two places due to rain. Stones were placed on the outside of the road for safety. Cracks had previously occurred on the highway. But, due to the rain, the big buttress fell. Will try to fix it soon.
