Raj Bhavan declared ‘Single-Use Plastics Free Zone’
Raipur. In a significant step towards environmental conservation, the Raj Bhavan premises in Raipur has been declared a “single-use plastics free zone” following the special instructions of Governor Shri Biswabhusan Harichandan. The Raj Bhavan Secretariat issued an order to this effect on July 14.
According to the notifications issued by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, and the State Government, dated July 1, 2022, and December 9, 2022, respectively, the manufacturing, import, storage, distribution, sale, and usage of single-use plastic items have been banned. In compliance with the notification, Raj Bhavan authorities are actively ensuring that no prohibited single-use plastic products are allowed within the premises. Consequently, the entire Raj Bhavan premises has been declared a restricted single-use plastics free zone.
