Rajasthan: ED searches premises linked to former Congress minister in Jal Jeevan Mission case
Rajasthan: The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday registered local links of former Rajasthan minister, Mahesh Joshi and some others in a money laundering probe related to alleged irregularities in Mission Jal Jeevan, official sources said. Last year, the federal agency had conducted at least two rounds of raids in a case related to a central government programme. Sources said the searches at places linked to Joshi, a former minister of the Department of Public Health Engineering (PHE), are being conducted in compliance with the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). In the recently held assembly elections in the state, Congress refused to give ticket to Joshi to contest from Hawamahal seat of Jaipur. The agency had earlier claimed that various middlemen and real estate businessmen “helped” officials of the PHE department of the Rajasthan government in “illegally” siphoning off funds from Mission Jal Jeevan. The investigation found that the contractors were involved in obtaining bids for Mission Jal Jeevan works on the basis of “false” work completion certificates issued by Indian Railway Construction International Limited (IRCON) and “deceiving” a senior official. . According to Algebra of PHE Department.
