Ram Mandir, Beneficiaries, UCC: UP BJP Gears Up With Electoral Trident For 2024
Lucknow (Agency): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ready for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. The issues the BJP is banking on to return to power have a strong base in Uttar Pradesh – be it a grand Ram temple, support for beneficiaries (called ‘beneficiaries’), the impact of a uniform civil code, Yogi The magic of Adityanath and the split in the opposition.
The Ram temple has been a cornerstone of BJP politics since it came into existence in 1980, and the party has faced some turmoil in the temple movement over the past decades. By the time the doors of the Ram temple open in 2024, only the ground floor work would have been completed. The idols of Ram Lalla will be installed there and will be thrown open to the public in January next year.

The BJP wants the temple to be inaugurated next year so that the Lok Sabha elections can be held in saffron colour. According to sources, the inauguration of the temple will be accompanied by a massive publicity campaign, which will be designed to heighten Hindu sentiments and create a frenzy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. “The campaign before the opening of the temple will go on for about three months. A BJP functionary said, the opening of the sanctum sanctorum will be a slap on the face of those who have made fun of our slogan ‘Mandir Wahi Banayenge’.

He said that the Ram temple is not the fulfillment of any election promise, but the faith reposed in the BJP by lakhs of people. Other constituents of the Sangh Parivar, including the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal, are also planning programs to prepare for the occasion. The BJP would like to ensure that in 2024 the talk of the temple dominates the Indian political landscape and all other issues take a back seat.
The opening of the temple in early 2024 will also open up a new Ayodhya to the people of India, which the Yogi government is working on. A government official said, “When someone comes to Ayodhya to see the Ram temple, we would like them to see a new state-of-the-art city, Naya Ayodhya.”

The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to develop Ayodhya with a mega plan of Rs 32,000 crore, comprising 264 projects implemented by 37 agencies, to transform the face of Ayodhya into a global tourist and spiritual destination. A vast network of highways, roads, infrastructure, townships, grand gateways, multi-level parking facilities and a new airport are coming up in Ayodhya.

A free zone Vedic Township, a new international airport, a redeveloped railway station, construction of new major roads and the Saryu River Development Plan as well as the Historic City Circuit and Heritage Walk are part of this. A senior BJP functionary said, “The story of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was about surgical strikes, but the Ram temple will become the big story in the 2024 general elections.”
Along with the temple issue, the BJP is also banking on the beneficiaries of the schemes of the central and state governments. Ration kits, free houses, free gas cylinders, free water connections distributed among the poor have created a new vote bank of beneficiaries that cuts across caste and religion.
The BJP is confident that this section of voters will not be swayed by the issues raised by the opposition parties. Yogi government’s crackdown on mafias and criminals and subsequent improvement in the law and order situation has created a sense of security among the people. While some of Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet colleagues were apprehensive about the possible backlash from the minority community following the killing of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in police custody, the chief minister remained adamant and continued to crack down on the mafia.
His crackdown against the mafia, his judicious approach towards state administration and commitment to development have become a magical combination of factors, which will likely lead to another comprehensive victory for the BJP in the 2024 elections.
Apart from this, the heat that is being generated regarding the Uniform Civil Code is also aimed at uniting the Hindu vote bank in favor of the BJP. A senior UP minister said, “The greater the opposition to the UCC, the greater the Hindu solidarity on our side.” Another factor that assures the BJP of its performance in UP is Yogi Adityanath . The chief minister has acquired a cult status and is widely respected as a tough administrator and compassionate leader. His popularity is increasing day by day and the crowds thronging his meetings clearly indicate that he is miles ahead of others in the campaign.
BJP continues to work on micro management at organization level to get people to vote in favor of BJP. The party continues to fine-tune its organization and does not want to make any mistakes. One of the main reasons for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections being easy for the BJP is in the state.
