Rashmika Mandanna’s AI fake video went viral, actress broke silence, Amitabh Bachchan also got angry
Mumbai: A recent incident involved the circulation of a counterfeit video featuring Rashmika Mandanna, where she appeared in an unconventional manner. The video had the potential to deceive unsuspecting viewers, as it utilized Deepfake technology to superimpose Rashmika’s face onto someone else’s. In response to this unsettling occurrence, the actress expressed her thoughts and sentiments via a tweet and conveyed her deep concern regarding the misuse of technology. She also tagged the cyber police for their intervention.
On her former Twitter handle, Rashmika shared, ‘I am truly disheartened to reveal that a Deepfake video of me is circulating online. This is a profoundly unsettling situation, not just for me, but for everyone in today’s world, given how technology can be misappropriated, rendering us all vulnerable.’
In her message, Rashmika acknowledged the significance of her family, friends, and well-wishers as her pillars of support and protection. She also contemplated the possible emotional toll such an incident could take on a young person, particularly in a school or college setting.
She went on to emphasize the need for the community to address this issue urgently before more individuals become victims of such incidents.
Notably, Amitabh Bachchan had previously extended his support to Rashmika. In response to a tweet suggesting the necessity for a legal framework to address Deepfakes in India, Amitabh concurred, stating, ‘Yes, legally, this is a strong case.’ It is worth mentioning that Amitabh and Rashmika worked together in the film ‘Goodbye.’
I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online.
