Read science, reason and adopt scientific approach: Dr. Dinesh Mishra

Raipur. Dr. Dinesh Mishra, Chairman of the Superstition Eradication Committee and eye specialist, while giving a lecture on the subject of social superstition and its eradication in the meeting organized by the Indian Buddhist Mahasabha on the occasion of 67th Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Day, said, due to science education and technology in the country, Scientific achievements are increasing.

The influence of technology is also increasing in the field of education. The trend of online education, work from home through internet has also developed significantly since the Corona period, but even after that, due to superstition and social evils in the country, many innocent people are often killed. People have to become victims of harassment, due to which there is a great need to develop scientific attitude among the common people for its diagnosis. Read science, reason, understand, and adopt scientific attitude.

Dr. Dinesh Mishra said that discussion, logic and analysis are necessary for scientific approach. Scientific approach is related to rationality, scientific approach develops the tendency of exploration in us and helps in taking rational decisions, hence scientific approach. Development of science is an important part of our Constitution. According to the scientific point of view, only those facts are acceptable which can be proved through experiments and results. Gautam Buddha has also said, do not trust anything you hear, observe, test, believe it when it feels right.

Dr. Dinesh Mishra said that even today some people always remain in the dilemma of good and bad due to superstition. This is all an illusion of our mind. All good and bad are inside our mind only. If any work is done correctly, with hard work and honesty, then success is definitely achieved. He said that the beliefs and evil practices of the 18th century are still deeply rooted, due to which traditions and superstitions like witchcraft, sorcery, sacrifice and child marriage still exist.

Due to which many innocent lives are being destroyed every year. He said that in such a situation there is a need to increase scientific awareness and adopt logical thinking. He further said that students along with the society should come forward unitedly against superstition and evil practices.

Dr. Mishra said that various natural disasters occur in every village, weather changes and infectious diseases also affect the villages, infections like viral fever, malaria, diarrhea also spread their spread collectively. In such a situation, people in rural areas often resort to various magic tricks and exorcisms as per the advice of Baiga-Guniya. Whereas the cause and solution of every disease and problem is different, which can be found in a thoughtful manner.

Medical science has played a big role in making the solution and treatment vaccine for an epidemic like Corona and making it available to the people. He said that when an electric bulb gets fused, it cannot be restored to light by blowing it out, nor can a motor cycle or transistor be repaired by wearing an amulet when it gets damaged. Like radio, motorcycle, TV, tractor, our body is also a machine in which in case of illness, it should be examined and treated by a specialist only.

While discussing various social evils and superstitions, Dr. Mishra said that children should not be scared in the name of ghosts and witchcraft because this creates imaginary fear in their mind which remains in their mind for life. Rather, they should tell stories of self-confidence and fearlessness. Those who have self-confidence and fearlessness in their mind neither feel evil nor are they hindered by so-called ghosts. If a person works hard and has strong intentions, then no planet, Saturn, Mars, Jupiter becomes an obstacle in his path.

Dr. Dinesh Mishra said – There are a lot of cases in the country of witchcraft, tantra-mantra, exorcism and harassment and social boycott on suspicion of witchcraft. In cases of torture on suspicion of witchcraft, an innocent woman is declared a witch on the basis of superstition and hearsay and is accused of making children sick, crop failure, and loss in business by using witchcraft. By making alleged allegations, he is subjected to various types of physical and mental torture. In many cases the accused woman is thrown out of the village. Due to defamation and physical harassment, many times the entire victim’s family themselves flees the village. In some cases, women have also been murdered or they themselves are forced to commit suicide. Whereas torturing any person in the name of witchcraft is wrong and inhumane. In reality, no person has such magical power that he can make another person sick or cause any kind of financial loss.

Cases of witchcraft, tantra-mantra, sorcery, human sacrifice are all examples of superstition. In many states including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam, innocent women are being murdered every year on suspicion of witchcraft, which is shameful for the civilized society. The National Crime Records Bureau has admitted that from 2001 to 2015, the deaths of 2604 women were due to witchcraft torture. While the actual number is much higher than this, in most of the cases police reports are not even made. When we obtained information through RTI, we got very different figures. There is authentic information about 7000 cases in Jharkhand, 1679 in Bihar, 1357 in Chhattisgarh, 388 in Odisha, 95 in Rajasthan and 102 in Assam. While no response was received from some states. But news of such incidents is found in newspapers from almost all the states.
