Rebellious tone of former BJP MLA, may contest elections as independent
Mahasamund. After the release of BJP’s second list, the tone of rebellion in the party has intensified. BJP leader and former MLA Dr. Vimal Chopra is again seen in the mood to contest elections as an independent. Expressing his displeasure, Dr. Chopra has also made serious allegations against the party. He said, tickets have been given to Raman Singh i.e. Thakur family from Rajnandgaon and Khairagarh. Rules and regulations are only for me. The game of caste based criteria has been played with me.
In fact, after declaring Yogeshwar Raju Sinha as BJP’s candidate from the important Mahasamund seat of the district headquarters, an important meeting of his supporters and workers was held at the residence of Dr. Vimal Chopra. In the meeting Dr. Supporters and workers expressed their anger at top party leaders for not giving ticket to Vimal Chopra. It is clear from this meeting that Vimal Chopra can contest the elections as an independent, because during this he said that big leaders are in touch with him. He also speculated about changing the name. Chopra also said that one does not want a ticket from a party which respects parikrama and not bravery.
After the party’s decision, Dr. Vimal Chopra, a big face of BJP in the district and considered a strong contender for the ticket, seems to be in a rebellious mood. In such a situation, BJP’s problems may increase on Mahasamund seat. During the meeting, Dr. Vimal Chopra said that after giving ticket to Dr. Sampat Aggarwal in Basna, his ticket was canceled due to caste equation. At many places in the state including Raipur, tickets were given simultaneously to people belonging to the same society and class.
Expressing his displeasure, Chopra said that I do not revolve around any big leader. I don’t have any godfather. Because of this, the game of caste criteria has been played with me. However, he told his supporters that we respect your sentiments and will take the decision in a day or two and inform you. Chopra also said that former CM Dr. Raman Singh has got the ticket from Rajnandgaon, while his nephew Vikrant Singh has been given the ticket from Khairagarh. Both are Thakurs. Rules and regulations are only for me.
