Repair work at Chennai Egmore Railway Station: Train routes and timings changed

Tamil Nadu: Southern Railway issued a press release on Saturday stating that repair work is underway on platforms 10 and 11 of Chennai Egmore Railway Station. Due to this, the timings and routes of several trains have been changed. The railway administration shared detailed information to inform passengers in a timely manner.

According to the press release, the Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore Nellai Express (No. 12632) will stop at Tambaram station from April 6th to April 21st. The train will arrive in Tambaram at 6:25 a.m. Similarly, the Rameswaram-Chennai Egmore Express (No. 16752) will stop at Tambaram from April 6th until further notice. It is scheduled to arrive in Tambaram at 7:10 a.m.

The Hyderabad-Tambaram Charminar Express (No. 12760) will stop at Chennai Beach station from Sunday, April 5th until further notice. This change is intended to minimize any inconvenience to passenger amenities and train operations during the platform repair work.

In addition, changes have been made to the departure station. The Chennai Egmore-Sengkottai Potthikai Express (No. 12661) will depart from Tambaram station at 8:05 pm instead of Egmore station from April 7 to April 22. Similarly, the Chennai Egmore-Rameswaram Express (No. 16751) will depart from Tambaram station at 9:05 pm instead of Egmore station from April 7 until further notice.

The Tambaram-Hyderabad Charminar Express (No. 12759) will depart from Beach station at 6:20 pm instead of Tambaram from April 6 until further notice. The railway administration has requested passengers to take these changes into account in their travel itineraries and reach the station on time.

Southern Railway stated that special attention will be paid to passenger convenience and safety during the repair work. Train operations and platform facilities will improve after the repairs to platforms 10 and 11. The railway administration also stated that it apologizes to passengers for any inconvenience caused by the changes and expects everyone’s cooperation.

The press release also stated that the railway administration will update the station’s coordinates and information boards so that passengers can easily access their platform and timing information according to the new system. Passengers are advised to confirm their tickets and train numbers and travel on time.

Railway officials stated that these changes are only temporary, and trains will operate on their regular routes and schedules once the repairs are completed. Passengers of all concerned trains are urged to take these changes into account in their travel plans and arrive at the station on time.
