As per the latest CAQM directive, Phase IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has banned all medium and heavy goods vehicles not involved in essential services from operating in the capital.
However, restrictions under Phase-I to Phase-III of GRAP will remain in force and will be enforced, monitored and reviewed by all agencies concerned throughout the NCR to ensure that the AQI level does not slip to ‘severe’/’severe’. ‘Severe +’ category.
CAQM said in a release that in view of the significant improvement in the average air quality of Delhi-NCR, a sub-committee to conduct actions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) of the Commission for Air Quality Management has been formed to assess the current air quality scenario in the region. Simultaneously, NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) met today to review the meteorological conditions and Air Quality Index forecasts provided by IMD/IITM and also took appropriate decisions on stringent measures under Stage-II. While conducting a comprehensive review of the overall air quality parameters of Delhi-NCR, the sub-committee found that the average AQI of Delhi reached 405 yesterday (i.e., on November 17, 2023), showing a decline and improvement since late evening of November 17. started. 2023. Furthermore, the air quality forecasts by IMD/IITM also do not indicate any significant deterioration in the overall air quality of Delhi-NCR in the coming days,” the release said.
