Rocket siren sounded in Israeli city of Eilat, IDF said this

TEL AVIV: Some approaching sirens sounded in Israel’s southernmost city of Eilat on Monday as a standoff between Israel and Hamas continued, with the war entering its 61st day on Wednesday, The Times of Israel reported.
However, the Israel Defense Forces said the cause of the alarm was being investigated.

As the sirens began to sound, residents in the area said they saw air defense activity and at least one interception.
During the ongoing conflict, the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have fired several ballistic missiles and drones against the city; However, according to The Times of Israel, all of them were stopped or missed their objective.

Last month, a school in Eilat was attacked by drones from a Syrian group backed by Iran.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had earlier attacked an organization in response to the launch of an unmanned aerial vehicle toward Eilat. The IDF said it holds the Syrian government fully responsible for all terrorist activities originating from its territory.

Earlier, the IDF said its warplanes struck Hezbollah terrorist structures in Lebanon. It said the targets attacked included terrorist compounds and infrastructure observation posts, as well as technical equipment used to terrorize Israeli civilians.

In a post shared on Twitter, the IDF said, “IDF warplanes struck Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in Lebanon some time ago, in response to launches directed toward Israeli territory. The IDF also attacked terrorist positions using artillery and “Iron Sting” guided mortars. War material. Among the targets were: terrorist compounds, infrastructure observation posts and technical equipment used to terrorize Israeli civilians.”
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly criticized international human rights organizations, women’s groups and the United Nations for failing to speak out about rape and other atrocities committed by Hamas against Israeli women.

The Israeli PM posted on his official ,
“I expect all civilized leaders, governments, countries to speak out against this atrocity,” he said.
The conflict escalated in Gaza following an October 7 attack by Hamas, where about 2,500 militants crossed the border from the Gaza Strip into Israel, causing casualties and capturing hostages.

Israel has characterized its Gaza offensive as targeting Hamas infrastructure to eliminate the entire terrorist group while attempting to minimize civilian casualties.
