Mumbai: A lecture by famous writer Devdutt Patnaik was once again seen creating an uproar. It was organized on the campus of IIT Bombay. A section of students was opposing him. Whereas, the other group wanted to organize it. Ultimately it was organized. Since many students had returned home for Diwali, the crowd was less. However, the controversy regarding this lecture has also deepened.
Maharashtra chapter of Vivek Vichar Manch has written a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner demanding action. He said that attempts were made to spoil the campus environment by adopting divisive policies. He also accused him of provoking the students.
Students of IIT Bombay have filed a police complaint against a professor and a guest teacher. It is alleged that he had expressed support for Hamas and terrorists during the lecture. The students demand that an FIR be registered against them. Let us tell you that Vivek Vichar Manch is organizing a protest at the main gate of the college on Saturday.
In an open letter a PhD student said, “On November 6, a film on Palestine was screened as part of the syllabus. After this the professor invited Deshpande as a speaker. “We objected to his speech before the event, but the IIT Bombay administration did not take any cognizance of our complaint.”
