Sale of liquor increasing in Odisha! Excise Minister presents info on revenue collection in Assembly
Bhubaneswar: It has been observed that sale of liquor has increased in Odisha. Minister of Excise informed about this and provided the detail statistics about revenue collection from liquor sale in the State.
As per reports, asking an un-starred question MLA Sofia Firdous put the question — What is the total revenue collected from liquor sales in each district of Odisha in the last Financial Year. She also wanted a District-wise breakdown of the same.
Answering to this in the Assembly on Saturday, the Minister of Excise Prithviraj Harichandan informed that the total Excise Revenue collected from liquor sales in Odisha during the last FY is Rs 7,216.99 crores and the total revenue (including VAT) is Rs 10,182.24 crores.
In a written reply the minister also informed about the Excise Revenue collected in the last 10 Financial Years. As per this information, in 2014-15 FY Rs 2038.79 crore, in 2015-16 Rs 2568.68 cr, in 2016-17 FY Rs 2786.25 cr, in 2017-18 FY Rs 3221.03 crore, in FY 2018-19 Rs 3925.41 crore, in FY 2019-20 Rs 4495.52 cr, in 2020-21 FY Rs 4053.51 crore, in FY 2021-22 Rs 5528.41 cr, in FY 2022-23 Rs 6455.06 cr and in FY 2023-24 Rs 7216.99 revenue collected.
