Sanjauli College got A+ grade from NAAC
Shimla. Sanjauli College of Excellence has received A-Plus grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Sanjauli College has become the first government college of Himachal to get A+ grade from NAAC. The college has received a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.47 from NAAC which was 2.63 in 2017.
College Principal Dr. Bharti Bhagda said that they have got this grade because of the hard work of the college staff and students. Everyone has worked together hard for this. He said that the three member team that visited the college last month seemed satisfied with the visit. He said that the entire college was hopeful that the college would get better grades from NAAC.
Earlier, NAAC team had visited the college in 2017, after which the college got B+ grade. Apart from this, the team had asked the college to remove many shortcomings at that time. This includes starting PG courses, starting vocational courses, strengthening the internship program, starting skill development courses and starting language labs.
To overcome all these shortcomings, two PG courses in English and Hindi have been running in the college for three years and approval has been received from the university for conducting PG classes in Economics and Public Administration. There are three vocational courses running in the college, V-Voc, BBA and PGDCA. After six years, a three-member NAAC team visited the college on 11 and 12 October.
In which Dr. Vishnu Magare, Vice-Chancellor of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, is the Chairman and Prof. of Delhi University. Dr. Anupam Mahajan was made the convener and Dr. Chaitali Chakraborty, Principal of Thakur College Science and Commerce, was made the member. College NAAC Coordinator Prof. Kamayani Visht told that the journey to reach A+ was not easy.
But everyone together has made this dream come true. Now with the increase in grade, the projects stalled due to lack of budget will be completed. Not only this, due to increase in development grant, adequate budget will also be available for expansion of classrooms and facilities in the college campus. Apart from this, students will get many modern facilities, in which all the classrooms will be converted into smart classrooms, and the digital library will be expanded.
With the increase in grades, budget will also be available for additional hostel facilities for college students. The NAAC team has given many suggestions to the college, which the college has to implement in the coming years. In this, PG classes and many diploma courses should be started at all departmental levels in the college including B.Sc. Data Sciences and B.Sc. Aviation. The college should work to build an NCC air wing and a sports ground should be built in the college.
Hostels and libraries for girls should be made completely automated. Apart from this, digital library facility should be provided for hostel students. NAAC team has enumerated some shortcomings of the college. Courses like aviation and data sciences are not available in the college. The placement cell is quite weak, hence campus placements are less. Apart from this, there is no research cell in the college nor is any grant available.
