The high court agreed to hear Singh’s plea on Friday when Sajay Singh’s lawyer raised it before a division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjiv Narula. Singh has challenged his arrest and remand by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), saying the financial probe agency has not informed him of the grounds for his arrest.
On Tuesday, the ED had sought his further custody from Judge Nagpal on the grounds that his behavior was completely uncooperative with regard to the source of acquisition of certain ED confidential documents related to the case. The financial probe agency arrested Singh after conducting searches at his residence in North Avenue area on October 4. According to a top ED official, Singh was arrested under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
