SDM forcibly ordered lathicharge, farmer died
Balrampur. SDM Karun Kumar Dahariya has been accused of murdering an elderly man. SDM Dahariya and his team had arrived in the Kusmi police station area to stop illegal mining. It is alleged that his team began assaulting villagers without even questioning them. A 62-year-old man died in the attack, while two other young men were seriously injured. The incident has sparked widespread anger in the village. Given the gravity of the situation, a heavy police force has been deployed in the Kusmi area.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the village panchayat of Hanspur. At around 2 a.m. on Sunday and Monday, SDM Karun Kumar Dahariya and Samari’s deputy tehsildar, Paras Sharma, along with their team, had gone to investigate a report of illegal bauxite mining. It is alleged that the team stopped three villagers—Ramnaresh Ram (62), Ajit Oraon (60), and Akash Agariya (20)—who were returning home from their fields. Eyewitnesses claim that without any inquiry or investigation, the officials attacked them with sticks and rods.
The beating was so severe that elderly Ramnaresh Ram died while being taken to the hospital. Two other injured young men are currently fighting for their lives in the hospital. Villagers allege that the administration mistook innocent farmers for mining mafia and brutalized them, leading to widespread anger in the area.
