Section Officer Ranjit Kumar Sadangi trapped by Odisha Vigilance while taking bribe
Nabrangpur: Ranjit Kumar Sadangi, the Section Officer of the office of the Papdahandi Block Education Officer (BEO) in Nabrangpur district has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs 10,000.
Section Officer Ranjit Kumar Sadangi was nabbed while taking the bribe at the BEO office from a complainant, a retired School Headmaster, in order to process his pension papers which were pending with Sadangi since retirement in 2011.
The anti-corruption team recovered and seized the entire tainted bribe money from the possession of Ranjit Kumar Sadangi, said official sources adding that simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sadangi from disproportionate assets (DA) angle following the trap,
The sources further said that in this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S Case No.26 Dt. 16.12.2024 U/s 7 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and investigation is in progress against the accused Section Officer of the Papdahandi Block Education Office. Detailed report follows.
Earlier on December 13, the Vigilance officials had arrested Commercial Tax & Goods and Services Tax (CT&GST) Assistant Commercial Tax Officer (ACTO) Abinash Pradhan and two businessmen – Satyaki Pattanaik and Deeptikanta Choudhury – for their involvement in a fraud over Rs 4 Crore.
