Security beefed up at US Embassy in Chennai

Tamil Nadu: As the war between the US and Iran escalates, police security has been increased at the US Embassy in Chennai.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike. The US stated that several military commanders were also killed. Following this incident, security at US embassies worldwide has been increased.
In this context, police security has been increased for the US Embassy in Chennai’s Anna Salai area. 200 police personnel are deployed under the supervision of three Assistant Commissioners. Police are conducting intensive surveillance and security work in the Cathedral Road, Avvai Shanmugam Road, and Peters Road areas surrounding the US Embassy.
Anti-riot vehicle, Vajra, has been placed on standby. Police have increased surveillance by using patrol vehicles in the Anna Salai and Royapettah areas, where a large number of Shia Muslims live.
