Selvaperunthagai new chief of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee

Chennai: Putting an end to speculation, the All India Congress Committee appointed K Selvaperunthagai, Congress Assembly floor leader (from June 2021), as the new TNCC chief. This announcement was made by AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal late Saturday evening. The party has appointed Killiyur MLA S Rajesh Kumar as the new leader of the assembly.

After serving in various positions in several parties (including as Mangalore MLA on VCK ticket), Selvaperunthagai joined the Congress in 2010. Currently serving as the MLA from Sriperumbudur, sources said the elevation of a Dalit leader strategically coincides with the upcoming elections as is expected.
