Senior Congress leader calls for filling chain link ponds in Rajapet

Senior Congress district leader and former Rajapet sarpanch Vancha Veera Reddy on Tuesday urged the government to immediately complete the pending Kaleshwaram canal works and fill the chained tanks. He said that even though the government had acquired land from farmers of Begumpet and Challur villages as part of the Kaleshwaram 15 package, the canal works were pending. Some canal works have been undertaken towards Singaram via Kondreddy Lake and Mallegudam, and he immediately requested local MLA Beerla Ilayya to take the initiative and ensure that the canal works are completed. He said that the tanks filled with rain have completely dried up as summer approaches and groundwater has become scarce. He expressed his concern that boreholes and wells have dried up and crops are drying up. He urged efforts to fill the chained tanks in Rajapet mandal through the Kaleshwaram 15 package.
