Senthil Balaji’s remand extended
CHENNAI: A sessions court on Monday extended the remand of Tamil Nadu minister V Senthil Balaji till November 22. He was earlier arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case.
Principal Sessions Judge S Alli, before whom Balaji was produced through video-conferencing from Puzhal Central Jail, extended his judicial custody till November 22.
When the case came up for hearing, advocate Arun, appearing for the DMK leader, filed a petition seeking direction to the ED to produce copies of documents seized by the prosecution during the investigation.
The judge directed the agency to file its reply on the plea and posted the matter for further hearing till November 22.
Balaji was arrested by the ED on June 14 in a money laundering case related to the cash-for-jobs scam when he was the transport minister during the previous AIADMK regime.
