Shakuni maternal uncle Sarabjit Singh of ‘Mahabharat’ passed away at the age of 78

Mumbai (IANS) | Veteran actor and filmmaker Sarabjit Singh aka ‘Goofy’ Paintal passed away on Monday due to age-related ailments. Bollywood sources gave this information. Goofy Paintal was 78 years old and is best remembered for his role of ‘Shakuni Mama’ in the mega-telerial ‘Mahabharat’ (1988–1990) by late BR Chopra, which was very popular on Doordarshan.

Born on October 4, 1944, in the pilgrimage town of Tarn Taran, Punjab, Goofy acted in films like ‘Rafu Chakkar’, ‘Dillagi’, ‘Des Pardes’, ‘Suhaag’, apart from about 18 teleserials in different genres and roles.

Last week, his nephew and actor Hiten Paintal told media persons that his uncle Goofy was in critical condition and had been taken to a private hospital in Andheri due to heart and kidney problems.

Goofy breathed his last on Monday morning. A day after veteran actress Sulochana Latkar’s demise on Sunday, the news of Goofy Paintal’s death has sent shockwaves across Bollywood.
