Top wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat and Satyawart Kadian have suffered a setback in the Delhi High Court. The Delhi High Court has dismissed their petitions challenging the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections. The High Court dismissed the petitions as the wrestlers did not appear before the court. Sanjay Singh won the WFI presidential election against Anita Sheoran. The wrestlers expressed their support for Anita.
Justice Mini Pushkarna, who heard the case on November 27, observed that none of the petitioners appeared in court during the hearing. The matter came up for hearing several times, but none of them appeared. The court said that “it seems that the petitioners are not interested in taking the matter forward.” The wrestlers alleged that the Indian Wrestling Federation elections were not held in a fair and transparent environment. However, the Delhi court dismissed the petitions as the wrestlers did not appear for the hearing.
