Sinha Women Special Task Force inaugurated in Tamil Nadu for women’s safety

Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: The newly formed ‘Sinha Women Special Task Force Unit’ in the police department with the aim of strengthening the safety of women in Tamil Nadu will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay on Tuesday (June 9). This event will be held at 5 pm at Rajaratnam Stadium, Egmore, Chennai. Many senior police and administration officials will be present on this occasion.

Chief Minister and Tamil Nadu Victory Party leader Joseph Vijay had promised to form a special task force to control and prevent crimes against women during the assembly election campaign. After assuming power, she approved this proposal in her first files as soon as she took oath as the Chief Minister on May 10, under which an order was issued for the formation of ‘Sinha Women Special Task Force’.

As per the government order, this special task force will work under the direct supervision of the Chief Minister. Its objective is to take prompt action on crimes against women and make the security system more effective. After the formation of this unit, it is being developed as a special structure in the police administration.

This force is commanded by senior IPS officer IG K. Bhavaneshwari, who has been appointed its chief officer. In the initial phase, more than 30 policemen including one police inspector, two assistant inspectors and four inspectors will be appointed in this unit. A plan has also been made to gradually increase its scope and resources.

A distinct identity mark and uniform has also been designed for this special task force, so that it can be distinguished from other police units. The government says that this unit will ensure quick response and effective action in women safety matters.

Director General of Tamil Nadu Police, Mahesh Kumar Agarwal will be chiefly present at the inauguration ceremony and will preside over the programme. Apart from this, Chief Secretary of State Government Saikumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department K. Manivasan and Chennai Police Commissioner A. Amalraj will also participate in the program.

According to government sources, this task force has been created to specifically focus on matters that are related to women’s safety, which require prompt investigation and action. Its objective is also to prevent crimes as well as to provide quick justice to the victims.

The state government believes that this initiative will give a new direction to the security system of women and the police system will be made more sensitive and effective. Also, this unit will work with modern technology and special training so that immediate response can be given in any emergency.
