Six tribal laborers killed in road accident on Andhra Pradesh-Telangana border
GUNTUR (IANS) | Six people were killed and six others injured when an auto-rickshaw rammed into a truck in Pondugala village of Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district near the Andhra Pradesh-Telangana border in the early hours of Wednesday. The accident victims, tribals from neighboring Telangana state, were on their way to Pulipada in Palnadu district in an auto to work in the fields.
According to the police, a truck going towards Telangana’s Nalgonda district hit the autorickshaw coming from Nalgonda towards Palnadu.
After this the truck driver fled towards Telangana. Acting swiftly, the police formed a special team and traced the truck, which had a Tamil Nadu registration number.
The injured have been admitted to Gurjala Hospital.
Palnadu district superintendent of police Y. Ravi Shankar Reddy said the victims were residents of Damcherla mandal in Nalgonda district and were on their way to Palnadu to work in agricultural fields.
Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao has expressed deep sorrow over the death of six tribal laborers.
All the victims were residents of Narsapur village in Damaracharla mandal of Telangana. The Chief Minister expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members.
He asked Miryalaguda MLA N. Bhaskar Rao to provide immediate better medical treatment to the injured persons. The Chief Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to the family of the deceased and Rs one lakh each to the injured.
