Solan: 23 pharma medicines manufactured in Himachal Pradesh declared substandard

Solan: 23 drug samples, including five injection samples manufactured in Himachal Pradesh, are among 52 drugs declared substandard at the national level by various state and central drug regulators in the monthly alert issued by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) today. The drug regulator has specifically targeted injections that do not conform to Schedule V of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, with regard to clarity of solution and presence of particulate matter. State Drug Controller Manish Kapoor said all batches of drug samples included in the alert will be immediately recalled from the market and field staff will be directed to investigate quality failure issues. The medicines that did not meet the quality standards include Metoprolol Succinate Tablet, Cefixime Axetil Tablet, Prednisolone Tablet, Telmisartan Tablet, Cefoperazone and Sulbactam Injection, Pantaprazole Tablet, Ambroxol Syrup, Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate Injection, Doclofenac Sodium and Paracetamol Tablet, Montelukast Sodium and Levocetirizine Hydrochloride Tablet, Ceftriaxone Injection, Ramipril Hydrochlorthiazide Tablet, Gentamicin Sulphate Injection, Cefixime Ofloxacin Tablet, Rebadin Tablet, Moxtas Distab Tablet and Zeronac SP Tablet. These medicines are used for diseases like allergy, blood pressure, diabetes, allergy, pain, bacterial infection, respiratory disease etc.
