Sonam Kapoor said, want to choose commercial and family entertainer films
Actress Sonam Kapoor, who has been a part of films like ‘Raanjhanaa’, ‘Neerja’, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, says she wants to choose commercial, family entertainer films for her comeback to the theatres. Post her pregnancy, Sonam is back in films and was last seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s crime thriller ‘Blind’. Directed by Shome Makhija, Sonam played the lead role named ‘Jiya’ in the film, which was a remake of the 2011 Korean film of the same name. The film centers around a blind police officer, who is on the hunt for a serial killer. It was released on 7 July.
This was Sonam’s return to the silver screen after her 2019 release ‘The Zoya Factor’ and the same year release ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’. The actress said that she has always loved being a part of projects that have entertained the audience. Sonam said, “When I return to theaters post pregnancy, I will try to do just that because it makes me happy to see people forget their present sorrows to enjoy cinema and the world.”
Sonam also reiterated that she wants to do only two projects every year. “I’m looking forward to doing two projects a year from here and I’m looking for scripts that are very entertaining and engaging.” Sonam said that she became an actress to entertain the audience with films that all audiences can watch and enjoy, as a family and as a community. The actress said, “I remember why I wanted to become an actress. Since I was a kid, I loved movies that I could watch with my entire family. It was an experience I looked forward to. I went through a range of emotions while watching such movies with my family. Those moments are still one of the most beautiful memories of my life. This is the kind of cinema I want to be a part of.”
Sonam concluded, “So, for me, commercial films, films with family entertainment have always been my favourite. I want to do more such films as soon as I return to theatres.” Sonam already has two projects lined up for launch in 2024. Sonam married businessman Anand Ahuja on 8 May 2018. The couple welcomed their first child, baby boy Vayu Kapoor Ahuja on August 20, 2022.
