Telangana: Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday assured the people of Telangana that the Congress government in the state will fulfil its guarantees. Sonia Gandhi greeted the people of Telangana on the State Formation Day and wished it rapid development and bright future. She was invited to the function by the state government but could not attend it due to health reasons.
She said the people of Telangana have entrusted the responsibility of building a prosperous and developed Telangana to the Congress. She said she considers it her duty to fulfil all those dreams. “Today on this auspicious occasion I want to assure you all that the Telangana Congress government led by Revanth Reddy will leave no stone unturned in fulfilling its guarantees,” she said. Sonia Gandhi paid tribute to the “countless martyrs of Telangana who sacrificed their lives for the creation of this great state.”
“In 2004 at Karimnagar I promised the people of Telangana that the Congress will fulfill their dream. After my statement there was discontent in our party and many people left our party, but your courage and determination gave me the strength and inspiration to fulfill the dream,” she said.The Congress leader said the people of Telangana have given her a lot of respect and affection in the last 10 years.At the main official function, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy hoisted the national flag and took the salute of police contingents.This is the first State Formation Day after the Congress came to power in the state in December last year.
