Sons Murder Father With Snake Bite For Insurance Claim In Tamil Nadu
Chennai: A father was insured for a large amount of money. Then, as per the plan, he was bitten by a snake. They planned to make it look like an accident and claim the insurance money. However, when the insurance company official became suspicious of them, the real story came out. It turned out that the sons had killed their father for the sake of money. This inhuman incident took place in the Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu.
Ganesan (56), a resident of Podatturpettai near Tiruttani in Tiruvallur district, was working as a lab assistant in a local government school. He died of a snakebite at his residence on October 22. After the funeral, his two sons approached the insurance company for the Rs. 3 crore insurance money that had been taken out in the name of the deceased. This made them suspicious and led to an investigation. They informed the police after Ganesan had several high-value policies and claimed for insurance within a week of his father’s death.
The case took another turn when the police, who had registered a case, intensified the investigation. Ganesan’s sons Mohanraj (26) and Hariharan (27) are private employees. They lost money playing online betting. The brothers, who wanted to get out of debt somehow, got their father insured for Rs. 3 crore as per the scheme. Later, they hatched a conspiracy to kill their father with a snake bite to make it seem like he had died accidentally.
As per the plan, with the help of friends, a snake was left next to their father while he was sleeping. When it bit him on the leg, he screamed in pain. The locals rushed him to the hospital and saved him. When their efforts were unsuccessful, a week later, another highly venomous snake was brought and bit him on the neck while Ganesan was sleeping. The snake was killed on the spot to portray it as an accidental incident. However, the police investigation revealed that the accused had deliberately delayed taking him to the hospital. The accused confessed to their crime. With this, four other people who had helped them were arrested along with them.
