Sports Minister Udhayanidhi leaves for Ahmedabad
CHENNAI: Hours after securing tickets for the match, Minister of State for Sports Development and Youth Welfare, Udhayanidhi Stalin on Sunday boarded a chartered flight to Ahmedabad to watch the ICC World Cup final between India and Australia.
Excited to watch the clash between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Udhayanidhi along with six of his friends left for Gujarat’s largest city in a private jet from Chennai.
Earlier, Stalin Jr told reporters that he did not get a ticket to watch the World Cup final in Ahmedabad.
India entered the final with a comprehensive 70-run win over New Zealand on Wednesday.
After explosive starts from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer scored a century each to take India to the big target.
KL Rahul arrived to give the finishing touches to take India to the score of 397/4.
Mohammed Shami’s spell derailed the Kiwis with him taking seven wickets and sealing India’s trip to Ahmedabad.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and many notable personalities are set to watch the World Cup final in Ahmedabad.
