Srinagar: One person arrested for drug smuggling

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday caught a drug smuggler in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

During patrolling, a police team stopped a suspicious person, who on seeing them tried to flee from the spot. “During the search, officers were able to recover eight grams of prohibited substance like heroin, a digital weighing machine and Rs 700 in cash from his possession,” police said. Police identified the man as Zubair Ahmed Dar of Batingu, Anantnag. South Kashmir. Police said Dar was arrested and taken to the police station.

Meanwhile, the police said it organized Police-Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings at various police stations. Police said the officers present at these meetings listened to the issues patiently and assured the public that their issues, which pertain to other departments, would be immediately taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate action.
