Malda: An incident involving an obscene dance performance masked as a cultural program during Diwali has surfaced in Malda, West Bengal. Following the viral video of the event, a flurry of accusations and counter-allegations has erupted between the ruling party TMC and Congress, each holding the other accountable. TMC accuses Congress of endorsing such events, while Congress has retaliated in kind.
Reportedly, during a night-long program celebrating Diwali, bar girls were purportedly invited to perform indecent dances to Bhojpuri songs, with reports suggesting the presence of gambling activities. The aftermath of the program going viral triggered clashes between TMC and Congress over its orchestration. Local Trinamool leadership has pointed fingers at Congress-affiliated officials of the Gram Panchayat in the area, accusing them of organizing the event.
This event allegedly took place during the Diwali-Kali Puja celebrations in Wingol village, under the administration of Wingol Gram Panchayat. Trinamool representatives in the area allege that Panchayat officials permitted these unlawful gatherings in exchange for monetary gains. However, the accused Panchayat officials refute these claims, dismissing Trinamool’s accusations as baseless.
Saheb Das, a Trinamool leader from Harishchandrapur, denounced a faction within Congress for fostering such unacceptable practices. He claimed that the Gram Panchayat, under Congress control, was complicit in these illicit activities. The matter has been reported to the police for further investigation.
On the other hand, Abdus Shobhan, a Congress leader in Harishchandrapur, refuted allegations of any Panchayat officer’s involvement in the incident. He acknowledged the complaints and indicated that investigations by the police will shed light on the actual happenings in the area.
