State’s first Dairy Center of Excellence to be built in Una
Shimla. Himachal’s first DARE Center of Excellence will be established in Una. While tenders have been floated regarding the Dairy Center of Excellence, communication has also been held with the bidders to encourage them. A pre-bid meeting has been organized for this. An MOU for this has been signed with Himachal Government and Denmark.
This training center will work mainly in three ways, in which milking machines will be installed for milk, a training center will be built and a milk plant will also be established here. For this, Denmark will also donate 200 of its cows, which will be looked after with robots and modern machines. This project is being built on about ten hectares of land.
To increase milk production, Indo-Danish Dairy Center of Excellence is being built in Basal, Una at a cost of Rs 44.12 crore. The state government is also spending Rs 12.92 crore. This dairy farm will be equipped with modern machinery and robotic technology.
Where all the work including milking the cows, cleaning, dung lifting has to be done by robots and machines only. Director of Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. Pradeep Sharma said that tenders have been invited to establish a Center of Excellence. For this, a pre-bid meeting has also been held with the bidders. This in itself will become the first hi-tech center of excellence in the state, where work will not be done manually but through machinery and robots.
In the Center for Excellence-Dairy Farm, to be built with the cooperation of the Danish government, there is a plan to provide good breed of cows along with training to the farmers and herders and to increase the milk production. Consultants from Danish engineering and technology firms have visited regarding this project.
This Center of Excellence equipped with modern technologies will be of great help in increasing milk production and connecting cattle farmers with new dairy technologies through training.
This will be the first hi-tech dairy farm of Himachal, where mechanical work will be done instead of manual work. Here, all the cleaning of cows, feeding, milking, dung removal etc. will be done by the farmers with the help of robotics.
