Statue of tribal icon Birsa Munda unveiled in Joda
Jora: A statue of Birsa Munda has been installed at Kalapahara Chak in Jora Municipality of Odisha in honor of the great freedom fighter, social reformer and revered tribal leader.
This 7 feet statue is made from a single black granite stone.
It was unveiled by Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) and President of Flag Foundation of India, Shalu Jindal, Chairperson of JSP Foundation and Chancellor of OP Jindal University and social activist Tulsi Munda at the Tribal Pride Day celebrations on Wednesday.
Addressing the tribal people and other locals dressed in traditional attire, Naveen Jindal said, “The sacrifice of the great freedom fighter Birsa Munda to free India from British rule is a wonderful example of unwavering patriotism. The installation of this grand statue will serve as a constant source of inspiration for the young members of our local community encouraging them to dedicate themselves to the noble cause of nation building and advancement of our tribal society. ,
Paying tribute to the revered freedom fighter, Munda suggested renaming Kalapahara Chak in Joda municipality as Veer Birsa Munda Chak.
Recalling the bravery of the patriot and reformist, Shalu reiterated his commitment to improve the Human Development Index in the tribal dominated area of the country.
The program was organized by tribal organization Adivasi Ho Samaj.
