Earthquake
An earthquake is a phenomenon that occurs without warning and involves violent shaking of the ground and structures above it. This happens due to the release of pressure transmitted by moving lithospheric or crustal plates. The Earth’s crust is divided into 7 large plates, which are 50 miles thick, which are constantly moving at a slow speed in the Earth’s interior and on top of many smaller plates. Earthquakes are basically tectonic, that is, moving plates are responsible for causing tremors in the ground. The occurrence of an earthquake in a populated area can result in many casualties and injuries, as well as huge damage to property.
