AIIMS Bhubaneswar PG student found dead in her rented room; police investigation underway.

Odisha Odisha: A tragic incident came to light in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, where a 26-year-old postgraduate student of AIIMS Bhubaneswar was found dead in her rented apartment. According to the police, the student was found hanging from the fan in her room, after which sensation spread in the entire area.

The deceased student has been identified as Divya V, a resident of Kolar district of Karnataka. She was a third-year postgraduate student in the Department of Pharmacology and also worked as an academic junior resident at the institute.

Police investigation has revealed that Divya lived in a rented flat with another PG student in Cosmopolis Apartment in Bhubaneswar. Her roommate had left for the hospital around 9:30 am on Tuesday morning, after which Divya was left alone in the room.

When the roommate returned around 1 pm, she noticed that the door of the room was locked from inside. Despite calling several times, there was no response, after which he opened the door with a duplicate key. She was shocked to see the inside scene, because Divya was hanging from the fan with the help of a bedsheet.

The incident was immediately reported to the police, after which the room was sealed as a precautionary measure and investigation was started. Police also found a handwritten suicide note from the spot. According to preliminary information, in the note the student has mentioned long-running pain and mental stress. He had also written that no one should be held responsible for his death.

Police officials said that the body has been sent for post-mortem and the case is being investigated from every aspect. It is also being ascertained whether the student was suffering from any mental or physical problem.

There is a wave of mourning in the AIIMS campus and student community after this incident. According to fellow students, Divya was a hard-working and quiet student who was very serious in her academic work.

Currently, the police are treating the case as a suicide, but a detailed investigation into all the circumstances is underway so that no possible aspect can be ignored.
