Students are protesting against the anti-EPS laptop scheme: M Veerapandian

Chennai: CPI state secretary M. Veerapandian has welcomed the state government’s decision to provide free laptops to 2 million college students and criticized AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami for criticizing the move. In a statement on Sunday, CPI state secretary M. Veerapandian said that distributing free laptops to government school students has already played a vital role in improving learning abilities, digital skills, and creative abilities, especially for students from economically disadvantaged families. He said that extending the scheme to college students will further increase access to education and help bridge the digital divide. He said the CPI state executive fully welcomed Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s announcement. Veerapandian said the AIADMK leader’s comments against the initiative are unacceptable and reflect an anti-student mindset.
