Tamil Nadu government applies to increase MBBS seats by 150

Tamil Nadu: The state’s Public Health Department has applied to the central government to increase the number of MBBS seats by 150 in three medical colleges in Tamil Nadu.
Accordingly, the State Directorate of Medical Education and Research has applied to increase 50 seats each in Namakkal, Tiruvallur, and Tiruppur government medical colleges. If the National Medical Commission approves, these seats will be included in this year’s medical consultation.
Last year, student recruitment was conducted for 5,200 government MBBS seats in Tamil Nadu and 50 seats at AIIMS Madurai.
Officials from the Directorate of Medical Education have stated that Ramanathapuram Medical College has the facilities to accommodate additional seats, but they have not applied for them because students from AIIMS Madurai are currently studying there.
