Students take out march to encourage voting in Odisha
Malkangiri: Hundreds of students of residential schools run by the ST and SC department under Malkangiri Panchayat Samiti took out a procession on Thursday to encourage their parents and guardians to participate in the upcoming general elections.
Holding placards and banners, boarders appealed to their parents to exercise their franchise, stressing the importance of each vote in building a strong democracy.
Under the guidance of the school authorities, the hostel residents urged their parents to vote as it is the duty of every citizen. The banners said that the development of the village, district and state depends on the election of the right candidate.
The students, who said they were staying in school hostels and the elections were just a month away, used the occasion to urge their parents and neighbors to participate in the voting process.
A few days ago, students of Malkangiri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya had sent postcards to their parents urging them to vote in the elections.
