Suburban trains canceled from June 3 to 7 due to maintenance at Arakkonam depot

Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: Chennai Railway Division issued a press release on Tuesday informing that due to maintenance and modernization work of level crossing at Arakkonam depot, 5 suburban electric trains will be completely canceled from June 3 to June 7. This work will be done in the section from Chennai Central station to Arakkonam.

According to the Railways, the trains being canceled include IMU trains leaving at 4 am and 5 am from Arakkonam to Tiruttani. Apart from this, MEMU train leaving from Arakkonam to Tiruttani at 6.20 am will also be completely cancelled.

IMU trains leaving from Tiruthani at 9.15 pm and 1.10 am for Arakkonam are also cancelled. During this period, many trains running from Moormarket Complex to Arakkonam will be restricted to Thiruvalankadu station only. These include IMU and MEMU trains departing at 10.30 am, 11 pm, 5.15 pm, 5.45 pm, 6.05 pm, 6.15 pm, 6.40 pm, 7.45 pm, 8.20 pm, 9.10 pm and 11.55 pm.

The Chennai Railway Division has asked passengers to plan their journeys in advance during this period and adopt alternative means to avoid any inconvenience due to train cancellations. Railways also said that this maintenance is necessary for safety and ease of work and this will lead to long-term improvement in the operation of trains.

Railway officials said that during this period, train service will be monitored and information panels and help desks will remain active at the station to provide information to passengers in any situation.

It is advised for passengers to reach the station well in time and use the Railways website or mobile app to check the updated train time table. Railways also clarified that ticket refund and exchange facility will be available for canceled trains.

This maintenance and level crossing modernization work being carried out at Arakkonam Depot is being done with the aim of improving the convenience and safety of Chennai’s rail service. Railways say that this temporary inconvenience will be beneficial for both passengers and suburban train operations in the long run.

Railway officials have appealed to passengers and local people to show cooperation and understanding. Officials said that after the completion of the work, all train services will operate regularly and passengers will be able to travel normally again.
