Cycling is a popular pastime, especially among the younger generation. In recent times, it has become a prevailing trend for youth to embark on long-distance journeys by bicycle. Yet, have you ever heard of someone cycling through the territories of 14 different countries to feed their cycling enthusiasm? Allow me to introduce you to Felix from Austria, who undertook a remarkable journey, covering 14,000 kilometers across 14 countries on his trusty bicycle.
Felix, a 31-year-old yoga instructor by trade, made his way to Uttarkashi in India after traversing numerous nations. His journey carries a unique purpose — he aims to promote the practice of yoga through cycling.
Felix’s remarkable cycling odyssey commenced a year ago in Germany. Since then, he has traversed through Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Armenia, Iran, and Pakistan, crossing the Bagha Border to enter India.
Throughout his cycling adventure, Felix makes it a point to visit different locales and engage with people, enlightening them about the significance of yoga and meditation. Carrying all the necessary cooking equipment and camping gear on his bicycles has alleviated many of the challenges associated with dining and accommodation during his journey.
He typically covers a distance of 50 to 70 kilometers per day. Upon reaching Uttarkashi, Felix expressed his profound connection with India, which has always served as a wellspring of inspiration for his yoga practice. Despite initiating his yoga journey in Western countries, India has forever been the true birthplace of yoga in his eyes.
Felix’s aspiration is to delve deeper into the intricacies of yoga and meditation practices in India. For this purpose, he initially headed to the renowned yoga hub of Rishikesh. However, upon encountering the bustling tourist crowds, he redirected his path towards the serene Shivanand Ashram in Uttarkashi.
