Sunshine returns to Dehradun after rain; temperature rises by 9 degrees.

Dehradun. The weather in Uttarakhand is constantly fluctuating. After intermittent rain over the past three days in the capital, Dehradun, bright sunshine emerged on Thursday, causing a sudden rise in temperature. While the weather had remained pleasant and cool due to the recent rains, the maximum temperature surged by approximately nine degrees once the sun came out.

According to the Meteorological Department, Dehradun had been experiencing rain at various intervals throughout the day—morning, afternoon, and evening—over the past few days. Persistent rainfall had led to a drop in temperature, offering residents relief from the heat. However, as the weather cleared on Thursday, strong sunlight caused temperatures to rise rapidly.

The sudden appearance of the sun following the rain also led to increased humidity in the city. While the weather felt cool in the morning, the sun became intense by the afternoon. The rise in temperature meant people once again had to contend with the heat. Nevertheless, weather experts predict that a spell of rain may resume in several parts of the state in the coming days.

While weather conditions have improved in the plains, including Dehradun, the situation remains challenging in the hilly regions. In Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district, river water levels are steadily rising due to excessive rainfall. The Bhagirathi River is in spate, raising concerns among the administration and local residents.

In view of the rising water levels, the administration has issued an alert. People have been advised to avoid going near the riverbanks. Relevant departments have been instructed to remain vigilant so that any emergency situation can be handled promptly.

Districts like Uttarkashi face persistent risks of landslides, road closures, and rising river levels during heavy rainfall. The administration is continuously monitoring the situation, and disaster management teams have been placed on high alert.

Local authorities have urged the public to take weather warnings seriously and avoid venturing into high-risk areas unnecessarily. People have been advised to exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to landslides and near rivers and streams.

Weather conditions in Uttarakhand fluctuate rapidly during the monsoon season; temperatures often seesaw between spells of heavy rain and bright sunshine. Experts note that local conditions in hilly regions create a likelihood of intense rainfall within short periods, potentially triggering flash flood-like situations.

Despite rising temperatures in Dehradun, the possibility of rain remains across several parts of the state. The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall in some areas over the coming days, with weather activity likely to be more intense in high-altitude regions.

Recent rains had caused waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several areas. While people breathed a sigh of relief when the weather cleared, the administration is maintaining constant vigilance due to rising water levels in rivers and streams across the hill districts.

Currently, Uttarakhand is experiencing mixed weather conditions. While sunshine has driven up temperatures in Dehradun, rainfall and rising river levels in Uttarkashi and other hilly areas have raised concerns. The administration has urged the public to exercise caution and stay updated on weather forecasts.
