Supreme Court rejects Tamil Nadu minister’s demand for probe into alleged audio tape leak
New Delhi (IANS). The Supreme Court on Monday asked former Tamil Nadu Finance Minister P.T.R. Dismissed a PIL seeking formation of a Commission of Inquiry to probe the alleged audio tape leak case involving Thiagarajan.
Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra’s bench remarked, “This is absolutely a bogus petition and rumour.”
Refusing to entertain the plea, the bench said that in the purported audio Chief Minister M.K. There is mention of Stalin’s family whose evidence has no value and the apex court should not be used as a political platform.
The Supreme Court dismissed the petitioner’s plea saying, “What actionable material do you have? On the basis of some audio clip you want us to form a commission of inquiry. Don’t use it (court) as a political platform.” “
In Tamil Nadu, the state’s high profile finance minister P.T.R. Thiagarajan was stripped of his ministry and given a low-profile IT portfolio. The move was linked to a leaked audio in which the speaker – purportedly PTR – was heard saying that Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin and his son-in-law Sabrisan were making huge money after the Stalin government took over.
Thiagarajan denied this and said that it was an artificial intelligence-created audio tape imitating his voice. He met the Chief Minister and explained his position.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had said that dirty politics was behind the alleged audio tape leak involving the then state finance minister Thiagarajan.
The DMK had said that in the party audio tape leak case, BJP leader K.K. Annamalai, she said it was up to Thiagarajan to register a case against the BJP leader as it was a personal allegation against him.
