Surat: Youth begins cycle tour of Chardham and twelve Jyotirlingas to rebuild Ram Setu

The Ram Setu built at the time of Lord Rama was submerged in water after 1480. A twenty-two-year-old youth from Tharad village of Palanpur has embarked on a cycle journey to Chardham and Bar Jyotirlinga to rebuild this Ram Setu and bring it above the water level. This young man reached Surat by covering a distance of 970 km in his journey.

According to Valmiki Ramayana, a stone bridge was built over the sea by the order of Lord Sri Rama. Ram Setu was originally built by a monkey named Nala. It is said that till 15th century Ramsetu was used to walk from Rameshwar to Mannar island but in 1480 E.V. This bridge broke down and drowned in the water and even today this Ramsetu is present in the sea. Janak Singh Chauhan, a 22-year-old youth living in Tharad village of Palanpur, has started the 8000 km Chardham and 12 Jyotirlinga Yatra cycle journey to bring this Ram Setu above the water again.

Janak Chauhan reached Surat on March 26 after covering a distance of 970 km from Nageswaram Jyotirlinga in Dwarka. He said that he had heard the mention of Ram Sethu in Ramayana for many years. Then got full information about it and came to know that till 1480 Ram Setu was visible out of the water but then it got submerged and its existence was in danger for many years. But to see how I could participate in it, I decided to go to Chardham.

Travel on cycle and bar Jyotirlinga. Even though it was very difficult to travel 8000 kms on cycle, but I talked to my family members and they gave permission, supported me a lot. Till now I have covered 970 km and in next few days I have to cover 7000 km. I cycle 50 to 90 kms every day and stop wherever I have to stay for the night.
