Suspected handmade IED seized, one arrested
Sonitpur: Police on Tuesday recovered three suspected handmade improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Assam’s Sonitpur district, bordering neighboring state Arunachal Pradesh.
Police said that one person has been arrested in connection with the extortion.
According to officials, acting on specific information, a police team from Sonitpur district conducted a raid in Bhalukpong market area along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border and recovered three suspected handmade IEDs from the possession of a person.

Sonitpur district Superintendent of Police Sushant Biswa Sarma told ANI, “We are verifying the seized items and will send them to experts. We are yet to know whether the seized items are explosives or not. Our investigation is ongoing.”
Confirming the arrest, the SP said that he is a resident of Naoboicha area of Lakhimpur district.
