Suspended District Education Officer gets relief from High Court

Bilaspur. Chhattisgarh High Court has ordered the reinstatement of suspended District Education Officer of Balodabazar-Bhatapara CS Dhruv.

Dhruv was suspended on August 1, 2023 after complaining of irregularities in the posting of promoted teachers. He was given a charge sheet on September 15, 2023, but a new order was not issued within the prescribed three months for further continuation of the suspension period. The order to continue the suspension was issued on 22 November.

Dhruv filed a petition in the High Court to end his suspension on this basis. It was told on behalf of his advocate that the suspension of a government servant cannot exceed 3 months. If it is to be extended for a longer period, a new order will have to be issued within three months.

After the hearing, the single bench of Justice Arvind Chandel found that the suspension order was valid only till November 1, whereas the order to extend the suspension period was issued after 22 days. On this basis, the court has canceled the suspension order and reinstated the District Education Officer.
