Swachh Teerth Abhiyan: Nirmala participates in cleanliness drive at Eri Katha Ramar Temple
Chengalpattu: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday participated in the cleanliness drive under the Swachh Teerth campaign at the Eri Katha Ramar temple in Madhurantakam, Tamil Nadu.

“The temple has Chola era inscriptions that call Rama by the name “Thiru Ayothi Peruman” indicating the connection with Ayodhya. The PM appealed to the people to carry out cleanliness activities in temples across the country ahead of the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Delivering his inaugural address at the 27th National Youth Festival in Nashik, the Prime Minister reiterated his call for cleanliness drive, urging citizens to clean pilgrimage places and temples across the country on the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ day of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya .
The consecration of Shri Ram Lala will take place in the temple of Ayodhya on Monday. The idol of Lord Rama has been installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
The idol of ‘Ram Lalla’ has been made by Mysore based sculptor Arun Yogiraj. The statue is 51 inches tall and weighs 1.5 tonnes. The idol depicts Lord Rama as a five-year-old child standing on a lotus made of the same stone.
