Rajkot (Gujarat): A unique event of Raas Garba took place in the courtyard of the royal family in Rajkot, Gujarat. Here the girls played Garba with swords in their hands, riding on bullets, scooters and jeeps. This Raas Garba was organized by Bhagini Seva Foundation organization. Swords were used in Garba so that girls could learn sword fighting and could protect themselves.
Here women were playing Garba with swords in their hands. This year during Navratri, women not only performed Talwar Raas but also performed Garba while swinging swords on Bullet bikes. Other women of the organization mounted the jeep and performed the sword dance while swinging their swords. This scene was amazing and worth seeing.
The director of the organization, Kadambari Ba Jadeja belongs to the royal family. He told that an attempt has been made to maintain the tradition of Rajput family through Talwar Raas. 25 girls were given practice in the organization, but today the organization has taught sword to more than 300 women, so that women can protect themselves and women empowerment can be promoted. Learning fencing increases self-confidence in girls, they can face the evils prevalent in the society.
Bhagini Seva Foundation Trust has been working for 26 years. This organization has started Talwar Raas for the last 14 years. Women aged between 10 years to 60 years participate in this Talwar Raas. Here the girls, along with worshiping their mother, have learned swordsmanship diligently to maintain the tradition of the Rajput family. Practices with sword for 2 hours daily. This Talwar Raas has also registered its name in the Guinness Book of Word Records.
