SZA leads race for 2024 Grammy, women dominate 67th Grammy Awards

Los Angeles: The list of nominees for the 67th Grammy Awards is out and rapper SZA leads the way with more than nine awards. They are followed by Victoria Monet, Phoebe Bridgers and Cervantes Ghenea with seven, and Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus and Olivia Rodrigo with six.

So from the list of lead singers it’s clear that this time, the female world is leading the race, with Batiste being the only male artiste to get more than six nods. Others did not fare so well as no other male artist was able to go above six.

Ahead of the 2024 show, the Recording Academy reduced the Big Four categories from 10 to eight nominees, and added three new categories this year: Best Alternative Jazz Album, Best Pop Dance Recording, and Best African Music Performance.

According to the official website of the Grammy Awards: “The Recording Academy has officially revealed the nominations for the 2024 GRAMMYs, which will take place on Sunday, February 4 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.”

“The 2024 GRAMMYs, officially known as the 66th GRAMMY Awards, will air live on the CBS Television Network (8:00-11:30 PM, live ET/5:00-8:30 PM, live PT) And will be streamed. Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs)^.”

Announcing the new categories, he said: “Three new GRAMMY categories will debut at the 2024 GRAMMYs: Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Dance Recording.

According to Recording Academy CEO Harvey, “These history-making category additions are part of a larger group of updates and revisions, taking effect immediately at the 2024 GRAMMYs, aimed at making the GRAMMY Awards process “more fair, transparent and accurate.” “Mason Jr.”

As for Taylor Swift, if ‘Midnights’ prevails in that category in February, the 2024 Grammys could potentially make her the all-time leader for album of the year wins, according to Variety.

This would be his fourth win as he is currently tied with music legends Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon, who have each won three albums.

However, this time with the newly announced nominations she has already set a different record as Swift becomes the first person to be nominated for Song of the Year seven times.

In the film category, director Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ is likely to get as much competition at the Grammys as it does at the Oscars, with 12 nominations for the film’s music – 11 for the soundtrack album or its songs and an additional nomination for Mark Ronson/Andrew Wyatt. For instrumental score.

Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’ received five nominations appearing in the two top marquee categories, Record of the Year and Song of the Year, as well as Pop Single Performance, Music Video and Song Written for Visual Media.

Dua Lipa’s ‘Dance the Night’ also received the top nomination for Song of the Year. The range of songs written for visual media barely leaves room for anything else: four of the five songs are ‘Barbie’ songs, including the aforementioned Eilish and Lipa tracks, as well as ‘Barbie World’ and ‘I’m Just Ken’.

For best new artist, Gracie Abrams, Fred Again, Ice Spice, Jelly Roll, Coco Jones, Noah Cahan, Victoria Monet and The War & Treaty emerged as the frontrunners.

In the world of rock and metal, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Greta Van Fleet, Queens of the Stone Age and Paramore are in the running for Rock Album of the Year.
