According to the department, rain is likely in the districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, and Kanchipuram by 10 AM today. The Meteorological Department stated that these weather changes are due to a low-pressure area passing through Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, combined with an atmospheric circulation system formed near the southeast Arabian Sea and Kerala. Due to these conditions, rainfall activity has intensified across various parts of the state, and the situation is likely to remain active in the coming hours.

Warnings have also been issued for the districts of Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Viluppuram, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, and Namakkal. Adverse weather is also expected in the Puducherry and Karaikal regions.

Strong winds, potentially reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, may occur in some areas. Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is also likely. The Meteorological Department has advised people to exercise caution, urging travelers and those in open areas to remain alert.
